Scott Milan

I largely make paintings and experiment with abstraction in my work, incorporating experimental themes and the avant-garde throughout my practice. The paintings in the exhibition for Here, Now, Always, Everybody's Neighborhood are made with unconventional materials. The folded painting uses a technique of folding the acrylic paint on donated seatbelt material. The self-portrait painting was also done on recycled seatbelt material with spray paint and paint stick.

Using a range of materials, working in both figurative and experimental abstraction. Living and working in the Lower East Side has helped connect me to other artists and continues the long history of creative people sharing their voices through their art and ideas.
